One of the few Monarda species that reliably resists powdery mildew in Tennessee's humid summers, making it a dependable choice where other bee balms struggle. It's also shorter growing than most Monarda, making it well suited to the front of a border. Lavender spring flowers are a favorite of hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies, and after bloom the foliage holds attractive color through summer and into fall, so it keeps earning its space in the border even once flowering is done.
