Light: Part Shade to Full Sun
Moisture: Medium, tolerates brief dry spells once established
Despite the name, this isn't a true grass at all. It's a compact member of the iris family, with narrow, fan-shaped foliage that resembles grass but sends up delicate star-shaped blue flowers with golden centers each spring. It tolerates part shade to full sun, and once established handles brief dry spells without an issue, though it flowers best with consistent spring moisture. Sweat bees, bumble bees, and other small pollinators visit readily for nectar and pollen, and its diminutive size makes it a natural fit for the front of a border, along a path, or tucked into a rock garden where it won't get lost among taller neighbors.
