Our Story

Culver's Root Gardens started in a Madison, TN backyard with a simple idea: a garden can be beautiful and alive at the same time — full of color, movement, and the birds, bees, and butterflies that depend on it.

We're now in our second year growing at scale — around 5,000 native plants, most grown from seed collected right on our own property. That means every plant we sell has already proven it can handle Middle Tennessee's soil, weather, and wildlife.

Why we grow this way

Native plants aren't just easier to grow here — they're essential. Many are the only host plants local butterflies and moths can lay their eggs on, and their bloom times are timed exactly to when native bees and hummingbirds need them. Planting native means rebuilding a piece of the local food web, right in your own yard.

Beyond the nursery

We also design landscapes for homeowners who want to take this further — from full native garden designs to targeted plantings for pollinators and wildlife.

We're always growing, with plans for garden tours and hands-on workshops down the road. For updates on new inventory, sales, and events, sign up for our newsletter.
